HOW TO YBK: LESSON PLAN
Write headlines the right way
It seems easy. Just write a headline for that story — but it’s harder than it looks. Headlines can’t be too cheesy or cliché. You don’t want to use a song or a movie title. And you don’t want to use “Just keep swimming” for the swim team page for the 10th year in a row. Check out this resource, and happy headlining.
If you have great ideas and lesson plans to share with your yearbook friends — and we know you do — email them to ybk@herffjones.com. We’d love to hear from you!
LAST-MINUTE SPREAD CHECKS
Things to check:
No text crossing the gutter.
No heads/faces in the gutter.
People in photos are looking toward the gutter.
Photos show action and reaction. Avoid posed shots and the backs of people’s heads.
Do you still have room in your ads section? Put out an all-points bulletin to seniors who have not yet bought ads with the specific number of ad spaces left. Put a count-down of ad spaces on a bulletin board where seniors will see it. Click here for more help.
