Step one. Craft a theme (or central concept) for your 2021 book. Here are some great resources to use as a starting point for choosing your theme and making a list of coverage ideas for the upcoming school year.
RESOURCES AT THE READY:
Prep for distance teaching
• Back in the spring, life was a blur. But in the cacophony of messages and online meetings since then, our yearbook family assembled an amazing collection of online teaching resources. So, as you get back into your teacher brain, take a look at all of the helpful lessons and videos on How to Yearbook Whenever/Wherever/However.
Lessons galore
• If you haven’t visited our complete online curriculum lately, this may be a great time to take a look around. We’ll be adding more resources this summer, too. One of our newest treasure troves is our site for new advisers. Take a look at the YBK Essentials presentations. You can easily plug those into your lesson plans for the first weeks of school.
A FEW MORE REMINDERS
• Portfolio entries are due by Oct. 15: Start with this super-short entry form then mail us a book. (We gladly accept overrun copies or slightly scuffed books.)
• COVID-19 timeline spreads are still available: The final installment is planned for mid-July. Until then, the previous spreads are available here.
• Don’t forget to sell your overruns: Send us one for your Portfolio entry, and then sell the rest! Click here for help.
SPREAD THE WORD
We love it when your staffers submit photos for the MyHJyearbook log-in page. We’ve gotten so many entries that we created a form to make the process easier. Let your photographers know to go to herff.ly/submitphotos.
