HOW TO YBK
Is this your year for chrono coverage?

In the spirit of planning and pivoting, many schools are reevaluating their ladders and looking at how they’ll cover the school year. There are three main types of coverage: traditional, chronological or umbrella. If you’d like to learn the basics of these three types, check out the Yearbook Essentials Slideshows in our New Adviser section.

But, if you have decided to take the plunge into the chrono world, boy do we have a treat for you! We have a great new set of resources for getting deep into the process of planning and executing a chrono book, thanks to superstar rep Mimi Orth from California. Check it out and learn what the buzz is about.

Why do schools love chrono?
Because, with chrono coverage, you:
1) plan a big chunk of your book by week, month or season, then
2) chart out all of the topics to cover and
3) assign your staff/teams to every spread.

Sounds great, right? Just remember, it’s a whole-year commitment, so you have to be all-in if that’s what you decide to do.

SALES SPOTLIGHT

New order forms for you to customize
If you’re using Yearbook Order Center and Sales Assist, you probably don’t need in-school sales forms. But, if you need forms to pass out or send via email, we’ve got lots of options for you, including book sales forms in Spanish and French.
Check out the Sales Support section, one of our many customer resources on YearbookDiscoveries.com.
And don’t forget to do your setup in eBusiness before you start selling. It all starts at MyHJYearbook.com. Go to Setup > Setup Sales.

NEW HERE?
Teambuilding is what makes the culture of yearbook. It’s what gets your staff to come in and work on a Saturday or burn the midnight oil in eDesign trying to get a spread just right. And with COVID, it’s harder than ever.

If you’re not 100 percent virtual, go check out our Teams and Leaders section, but if you’re living your life on Zoom, try these three ideas:
1. Pick a pic: Have students pick a number — let’s say 12 (don’t tell them why) and then have them look back through their photos to the 12th most recent photo and share it. If it’s inappropriate, pick another.
2. Two truths and a lie: Have every student submit two truths and a lie to you (Google Form!) and reveal them to the staff and have them guess which one is a lie. A real-time voting app (like Kahoot) can make this fun.
3. Talk to aliens: Use your theme or your staff as the central topic. Have students work in teams to choose symbols or simple photos to explain the theme or the yearbook staff to an alien leader. Award points or some other prize to the winning team.
